I just shaved yesterday, did a regimen of jojoba oil and glycerin to reduce the razor bumps. I'm African-American despite the Avatar pic. I shave because I use a vacuum pump the hair gets in the way of the vacuuming process. The thing to avoid is using electric clippers.

Before you shave you should let the skin and hairs soften in warm water.Like in a warm bath. Then shave with the grain, this will take a lot off but not too much as to have ingrown hair

I've done it recently, against the grain, and didn't have such a problem. It might have been a bit uncomfortable. Also did the nut sack, same thing. I suggest you give it some time.

Take pain-killers if its painful, unfortunately you are going to have to wait it out til the hairs have grown throw, bathe in warm/hot water to help relax the hair follicles, may relieve the discomfort temporarily, at least you've learnt a lesson! lol

Shaving is ok, but if you can endure teh pein, try waxing.
If not, try a cream, acts like a razor. But, in any case, when it grows it is a terrible feeling. Maybe you can just cut it very short with a scissor.

Try using aloe vera gel (sold as a sunburn treatment) on the area of discomfort. And resolve NEVER to do that to yourself again! Lots of guys try it once. The smart ones learn from he experience.

stick it out, usually if you just trim the hairs with clippers or scissors you get the clean and trimed look but no itchy growth.
