Would Jimmy Carter support him? After all it was due to Jimmy Carter's support and "validation" of the Venezuelan elections that allowed Hugo Chavez to take Communist control of the country. He is now shutting down the media, silencing his critics, nationalizing banks and industry.
Yet, the Left is silent. I guess they need to make up their villains, and they must be American, or so it would seem.
Your thoughts?

Hmm, more evidence that Liberalism is generally equal to retardation: Chavez was validated by Carter despite the fact that there was huge opposition to him, and now we see why. Chavez is communist scum doing as communists do, they treat people as mere cogs in the machine, and a mere few hold all the wealth. This is why Liberals are so hopelessly hypocritical, they have no problem with their "kind" ruling over the masses of poor and treating them like dirt, yet pretend that corporations are worse, even though they pay a prevailing wage, and provide for promotion. This is something that cannot happen in communism, as you are simply one drop in the collective bucket.

Television stations are tools by which a massive movement of people can be created or hijacked. It is possible for either the government leades or the owners of the TV stations, to be evil men. Either. You won't see goodness always on the same side, and sometimes a crackdown on TV networks can have good intentions behind it and a beneficial result ahead.
Sometimes.
In the USA, the Jews control the television networks, and both the Rebublicans and the Democrats are afraid of them. Only a president backed by Congress *could* defyhe Jews, and even then they'd have to move pretty fast, which means they'd have had to come to an accord secretly. And keeping secrets from the Jews is a difficult thing to do.
Besides that, it would be safer and financially more rewarding for a political unified national government to do what the Jews want, to act as their tool instead of acting as the people's agent in removing the Jews as predators. So the political unification of the federal government is a very risky dice-toss, in which only a roll of two sixes will win for the people and every other result will enslave the people utterly, without hope of redemption for centuries. Yes, treason is that entrenched in the United States.
Destroying the federal government would be a safer gamble, risky as that is.

Of course not. Jimmy Carter only supports Jimmy Carter. If you noticed, the only reporter on the ground in Caracas is from Fox News the only moderate news network in the states.
The Left is in favor of shutting down television stations because they are communist and the control of information is the only way they can gain control of the minds of people. Look at the USSR, North Korea, and Iraq under Saddam.
Also the above listed countries failed or are failing on the world stage.

You seem surprised that the dems in power all want to be great friends with the dictators of the world. They've been like this for years. After all, they all want the same thing. Dictators don't allow criticism and liberals don't either. So what do they do? Well, since they can't actually form and argument that merits listening to, they opt to silence or shut it down. Believe it or not, they're working on it here too.

Jimmy Carter made Hugo Chavez's election possible? Odd... I thought the people who voted for him in Venezuela did that. I don't like a great deal of what Chavez does. You do know that thousands protested Chavez's action of shutting down that TV station, right? That his popularity is starting to wane because he isn't doing what he said he would in regards to the economy? Patience - Venezuela is starting to see what Hugo Chavez REALLY is versus what he SAYS he is, and that will eventually lead to his downfall, IMHO.

I doubt Hugo's move is getting much play in the NY & LA Times, Washington Post, etc..
And Jimmah did legitimize Hugo. He "certified" the election in record time despite overwhelming evidence that the fix was in. Jimmah no doubt believed the romanticism of the socialist bull that Chavez was spewing when he signed off. As usual, look where Venezuela is now.

Like it or not Chavez was elected democratically! All Carter did was support a democratic process and say the elections were fair and..he was by far not alone in this view, as the American Government on whole, agreed !
whats happening in Venezuela today,is an issue for Venezuelans and not AMERICANS!

There is also a movement by American leftists to try to silence and shut down Fox news because they are the only network that doesn't tilt left.
We are living in very scary times...

Chavez has the right to do whatever he wishes in his own country. Doesn't your president do the same thing? This is a Venezuelan concern, not that of the United States. Chavez also has the right to do as he wishes with Venezuela's oil. It is, after all, VENEZUELAN oil.
Amazing how so many concern themselves with other governments when their own is so corrupt.
