I have been with my bf now for 7 years. We have thought about getting married but no plans as of yet. So it's what ever works. My grandparent's Just got married 3 years ago after being together for over 20 years. Marriage is a final commitment that you make when you know that the person you are with is the ONE and you have committed yourself with all honest, trust, and love for that person.. I think that divorce happens more and more is that most people not all but most jump in to early or are pressured into marriage.

There are financial and legal implications to having a family/home without marriage. If something happens to one of the partners, then the other one doesn't have the right to the home, to visit in the hospital, make final arrangements, etc., nor do they have the right to social security benefits.

That is why gay individuals are fighting so hard to marry, to have these same advantages.

It's not about being socially accepted. It's about declaring your love for each other publically and then publically stating that you will only be with each other. It's the ultimate commitment a person can make to another person. It shows that you will be there, no matter what, it's the ultimate promise and gives a sense of security and long-termness to the relationship.

You know i ask this question to myself all the time. I have not found true love i guess. Marriage does not have the meaning that it use to and divorce is so easy now days. I think that if i ever get divorced again and will never get married again. All that i am as a wife is a cook and housekeeper. I think living to gether works better cause if you get tired of them and their ways you can pick up and move on without all that other stuff. All you have to do is please yourselves.
