on the back of yor pc should be a light green (small) connector, the card connected to this is your soundcard, however a lot of motherboards have a soundcard onboard.

If you use Windows Update then select the 'Custom' button then it should search for the drivers your hardware needs.
This only works with the drivers windows has in its database so as long as your sound card is a popular one then you shouldn't have trouble finding it on Windows Update.
Windows update or Microsoft Update can normally be found by going to the start menu/ all programs/ then at the top of the list.

If your sound card in embedded, IE, part of the motherboard then all you need to do is load the driver set for your motherboard. If your sound card is 3rd party and is connected via a pci slot then you can get the latest drivers for it from the manufacturers web site. Look on the card, it will have the info that you need written on it.

Modern motherboard have the sound card built in to the mother board,It is not actually a card as such,So find the make and model of mother board and go to their website for new drivers.

hi,
looking from the back of the pc:
the sound card will have several small earphone type jacks.
blue, green, red, pink, black.
inside the pc:
follow those colored jacks into the pc. the sound card may have a small gray cable connecting it directly to your cd rom\dvd.
to see the status of the drivers:
control panel\system\hardware\device manager
sounds, video game controllers
(or look for red x or yellow exclamation marks ) for devices without drivers.

If you bought a major brand name computer it most likely will be a chipset integrated into the motherboard. You should go to device manager and attempt to update your sound drivers.

Most newer computers have the sound incorperated on the mother board. You have to invoke the device manager and look to see who makes the audio hardware.
