Why at some places, the temperature can change drastically before going colder or warm?

e.g.
some places in antarctica, the winter on May is around -64 oC.
when 1 until 10 may, the temperature is cold.
then, at 11 - 20may, the temperature drastically rise and 10days before end of the month, suddenly the temperature getting colder more than earlier month.
this happen every month and every year.

Don't know about Antarctica but here in N.E. Texas I have personally seen,(and felt) the temperature change drastically in a matter of minutes!
When a "blue norther" (cold front) comes through in the early spring, winter or late fall the local temp. can drop by 10 to 50 degrees in a half hour or less. I've personally felt it go from a nice comfy 65F or 70F down to a bone chilling 35F or so. Then it went lower over the next few hours getting below freezing by the morning.
I've also seen a somewhat slower warm up when we were wearing heavy coats, scarves and gloves on Halloween but were tempted to go sunbathing on Thanksgiving!
Here, at least the temperature change is mostly caused by season and hot and cold fronts.
