A minor is a person under 18---unless said person is emancipated from their parents or is married.

No contracts are binding on minors.

Necessaries means things that are required to live such as food and shelter and yes a minor must pay the full price asked

When I took my law exams in England no contracts were binding on minors. However there was one exception and that was where borrowings had been created (I.e. an Overdraft or Loan at a bank) where the money had been used to pay for 'Necessaries'. This was extremely difficult to prove and it was held that 'Necessaries' comprised of such things as food, clothing and shelter. The problem is that if, for example the minor had bought a five course meal in an exclusive restaurant, designer clothes and a luxury apartment then a Court would probably rule that these items would not be deemed as 'Necessaries' but 'Luxuries' and thus the debt could not be enforced. In England and Wales a 'minor' is anyone aged under 18.

A minor' like anyone else, must pay the full price for items purchased unless it stipulates that there are reduced prices for minors, ie cinema tickets or children's' meals. Under the Law of Contract anyone selling items may refuse to sell them to anybody else so if, for example, a minor asked to buy something at a reduced price the seller could refuse. A contract is only valid when the seller accepts the purchasers 'offer'. If you saw an item for sale and there had been an error of the ticket, such as being priced at £1.00 instead of £100.00 the seller has no obligation to sell at the lower price. He can simply refuse your 'Offer' of £1.00.
