If I was to build a spaceship and go off into space to build a whole new world somewhere else, what kind of provisions would I take with me? I do not know if there is any life provisions on the planet I will land on! This is for a school assignment so don't think I am jumping off onto Haleys comet or anything !

Seeds to grow food, trees, etc. Animals to breed (maybe frozen embryos).

Possibly oxygen, water, etc.

In order to give any kind of decent answer to this, you *have* to know something about the world you are going to. Assuming that there are some limitations on how much stuff you could take, the priorities would be determined by the conditions on the place you are going. For example, does it have an atmosphere you can breathe? Does it have a solid surface? Does it have moderate temperatures? Does it have liquid water? Does it have any kind of plant or animal life? Does it have monsters that would consider humans a delicacy?
It's always a great thought experiment to answer these kinds of questions, but the teacher has to give you some criteria. Or you have to make some up.

Gosh, you really don't realize how nebulous a question can be, do you?

What's your starting points? What attributes should the planet you're searching for have to give you a chance to "take root"?

Do you actually believe you can just go out there and "terra-form" by the seat of your pants?

You need to start with some basic prerequisites that the planet you're looking for has......a reasonable starting point. Because if you're going to insist that you can start with any planet, no matter how hellishly inhospitable, then my answer would have to be that you need the beck and call of the power of God.

Please refine your planetary search. I'm not buying "school assignment" just yet. "Busy work" maybe.

Think of what you will need to survive for a year remembering that there won't be any supermarkets where you're going. Decide if you will have a working refrigerator on your ship that lands. If not, you 'll have to plan on only dry goods and stuff in cans. Decide what kind of seeds you want to take to plant and keep in mind that amenities like toilet paper, clothing stores and tylenol won't be there. You're going o have a very primitive life there.
