"best answer" what kinda comments do you write?
I usually just smile or say thanks. Occassionly a bit more.
Do people want to know WHY their answer was best?

Yeah, I usually just say thank you and maybe leave a bit more info if its called for. I like when people include a comment about they picked my answer for the best answer, unless its something like "well, I had to pick something, so your's was the least offensive." I also like it better when the asker picks my answers, not leaving it to the voters.

I include a personal message... though, not necessarily touching again on the Q&A...
If it is obvious that they knew what they were talking about, then they don't need my affirmation - just a note of thanks.
If they were the closest, but still got it wrong... I tell them the answer, but give them "an 'E' for effort."
I receive all kinds of replies, myself... just depends on the user.

Some people need validated but I think most just want points. I do check the comments tho after I am notified.

YES!!! I normally write either about why i chose it, how good the answer was, how it will/has helped me, how hard it was to choose a best answer...but I haven't chosen many best answers.

I got chosen for a best answer. I just checked my email and there it was. Some guy asked "did anyone see Gwen Stefani?" or something like that, and I said, "take a pic it'll last longer."

I dont know what to say either. and I dont like how we are made to write additional comments. we should just be allowed to pick best answer and the comments should be optional

I give out my personal thought if it was something that took some thought. I do like for people to tell me why they picked my answer. If it is a simple question then I just say thanks.
