You do not have to have a medical reason.

Elective c-sections are allowed in Australia, and are actually on the rise. However, caesareans always carry some risk for mother and baby and and really should be based on solid medical reasons for the best outcomes.

Caesarean births are safer for women in a high-risk category, such as those pregnant with triplets, but this does not apply for healthy women with a normal pregnancy.

ive had 3 ceasers in melb aus 1st emergency last 2 i elected to have them no medical reason i just felt the labour pains with the 1st one and thought im not doing that again, BUT after a ceaser your uterus still has to contract back down, so not only is your stomache cut open you still get contractions, you can have normal labour with an epidural so cant feel a thing a good idea if you can go that way and no scar

i am not sure about Australia....but why would you want to have a c section instead of natural...are you afraid of the pain? I had two c sections and let me tell you its a 6 week healing period for you...in fact after 6 years my c site still itches and i have no feeling from my belly button to ummm my hair line if you know what i mean...not to mention they will give you an epi that means a huge needle stuck in your back while you are curled up in a ball with your preg. belly not very easy i can assure you. they don't knock you out you are awake for the whole thing and you cant hold your baby for hours after because of the morphine drip you are out of it.....natural is better

CS is done when there is risk, either the baby or the mother.
