You will have to consciously look at everything you buy. Ask yourself if you really need it. If you don't need it, don't buy it. Before getting my house, I spent a ton of money on clothes. When I was stressed in university, I'd buy $200 - $300 in clothes to make me feel better, did that once a month, or every other month. Now I'm lucky if I spend $50 on clothes over a the course of a few months or longer. I have a lot more money at the end of the month now that I try not to buy what I don't need... Having someone contribute to the monthly bills helps a lot too.

The most imporatant thing is to account for all your bills. Don't forget, now that you own a home, you have to pay taxes and insurance as well as your house payment, if it is not included in your mortgage. Add up all your monthly bills first. (House payment, taxes, insurance, electric, gas, water, cable, internet, phone) then divide by 4. This is how much $ you will need to put away every week. After you figure the rest of your budget (groceries, gas, etc.) see how much you have left, and any extra, put down on your mortgage. It will add up after the years! Stick to it and you will have no problem keeping up. Good luck! :)

Congratulations on the house! You can write down (for 1 month) where every cent goes too. I'm sure some where you can cut back. Pay yourself first (automatic deposit) is a good one. Chances are you wont even miss it. There is a great book called "The automatic Millionaire" author:David Bach. It teaches you a lot about holding on to money and making the most of it! Good luck 2 u
