My dream and goal in life is to be a movie director. As young as i am, i have already written 2 movies and have ideas for 5. I am currently working on the beginning stages of filming one. Meaning that I'm doing try-outs with fellow "co-workers." Even though I don't have a job. One day I'm hoping to be on the big screen. If you're a director or producer (etc.) of anything. Like a TV show or movies I need your help!!!!!!! I would like to know what college you went to and how many years of schooling you had (etc). Was it hard? Is it really hard to get a job? What are some of the first steps I should take? What do I need to know? Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Well, it's funny. I just bumped into this site before I went onto Yahoo! Answers. I don't know if this would help at all, but if you are really into becoming a movie director, then you should check this site out

Some of Hollywood’s greatest filmmakers and stars have chosen to send their sons and daughters to the film schools and acting schools of the New York Film Academy. These are a few of Hollywood's biggest stars who have sent their children to this film school:

Steven Spielberg, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins, Kevin Kline, Peter Bogdanovich, Luc Besson, Pierce Brosnan, and George Romero. Asian cinema stars, Takeshi Kaneshiro (Chungking Express) and Park Kyung Rim also attended the school. Yet, some of the best projects to come out of the New York Film Academy are from students with no connections to the industry.

Hope this helps and good luck with your dream.

I think you'll find that directors find interesting routes to their profession:

Julie Taymor, Theater, Opera and Film Director: Boston Children's Theater, Experiment in International Living, École de Mime Jacques Le Coq, Oberlin.

Laurence "Larry" Wachowski and Andrew "Andy" Wachowski (born December 29, 1967), film directors and writers: Larry went to Bard, Andy went to Emerson.

George Lucas, film director, producer, screen writer: University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts.

For more simply go type in "American Film Directors who went to college" on google.com and read away.

Good luck in your ambitions.
