No, half-mast is specifically for the death of high-ranking members of government.

There are those that would fly at half-mast for anyone who dies or any disturbing event.

This is not proper flag etiquette.

Yes, the flag should be flown at half mast until noon. Memorial Day is specifically set aside to honor our
fallen military. Lowering the flag to half mast till noon is another way to honor and remember all who
sacrificed so much. Any flag etiquette will tell you it is proper.

I may be wrong, but I believe the traditional thing to do is to fly it at half mast until noon. Whenever the flag is flown at half mast, though, it should first be raised to the top of the pole for a moment, then lowered.

According to United States Code Title 4 Chapter 1, Section 7, “the flag, when flown at half-staff, should be first hoisted to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff position. The flag should be again raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day.

On Memorial Day the flag should be displayed at half-staff until noon only, and then raised to the top of the staff.”

No. and on ground it is half staff and at sea it is half mast
The lowering of the flag is an honor. For a fallen President, the flags were lowered after the attack on American on 9-11-2001 as an example.
But today the flag should be raise to the top and saluted for all the heroic efforts of our service personnel.

Today is a day to celebrate and remember. Celebrate the lives of the people who fought for us, and remember how they sacrificed their lives. Today is about honoring, and half mast just wouldn't seem appropriate. It's a tricky day, a mix of happiness, picnics, and good food, as well as remembrance.
