Maybe you are looking for a friend in your teacher? I like all my students, unless they disrespect me, but even then I like them, I'm just disappointed. I am not, however, friends with my students until they have graduated high school. I am not a teacher so that I can have a lot of high school kids as friends or win some kind of popularity contest. My job is to teach and that is what I do. My friends are the people I hang out with after school and complain about my day or share triumphs with.

Respect, respect, respect. Show up on time, with your assignments and reading completed. Acknowledge that your teacher more than likely does know more than you about a lot of things, not just the subject you're studying. Be attentive and make eye contact during the lecture with your teacher.

Above all, participate in class and, if you found something in the class interesting and fun, tell your teacher. Give the teacher feedback on his/her lesson as you leave the room.

I can guarantee, because you took the time to ask the question, that you will be "liked" by your teacher. Teachers are human too ... they have feelings which can be hurt; they have families they're responsible for; they have jobs they must do well or suffer the consequences. They are not infallible. They have personalities which often differ from yours and opinions which aren't the same. They are doing their job and would really appreciate it if you'd do yours, rather than treat school as a social engagement to go to each day, like many students do.

Talk with your teacher after school, when no one else is around. Tell your teacher you asked this question. He/she won't know you feel this way unless you tell them. Most teachers have so many students that they sometimes don't have the time to "connect" with each one the way they'd wish to. Therefore, caring students like you (you're probably very quiet in class too) are not noticed as often as you'd like, and sort of fade into the background. Sad but true. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease! If you participate eagerly in class, you should get a much more favourable response.

Good luck to you, dear! I'd love to be your teacher!!!

That's not what you are there for. You are there to learn and although it makes things more pleasant when your teacher likes you it isn't everything.

How do you know he or she doesn't like you anyway? Maybe you only thnk that but he or she is like that with everyone?

All you can control is how you act. you cannot MAKE anyone like you regardless of who they are in your life.

Just do your best, show your eagerness for learning, turn in your assignments neatly and on time so that he or she has to give you the grade you deserve. If they don't you can ask your parents to intervene and talk to the teacher about having your grade changed.

You will only have this teacher for a short period of time and you can get through this and move on. Focus on getting the work done and ask for extra help after class if you need it.

I "like" all my students for one reason or another...I don't however, respect all of them.

The students I am willing to do 'more' for are the ones who are respectful, have good manners, try hard, ask questions, and are willing and open to learning in my class.

Your teachers were hired to teach what they do because they have a full (maybe not perfect) understanding of the subject they specialize in. Respect that even if you don't "like" your teacher, they probably know what they are talking about.

Remember that most teachers are underpaid and overworked. If you make their job easier by showing up prepared, paying attention, and asking questions when you need to, they will like you. Also, like most human beings, teachers like people who like them. If you are respectful and friendly, they'll like you. You don't have to suck up -- just say "hi" if you pass them in the hall, or "good morning" when you pass by the desk on the way into class.

You are not our friends... you are our students, know the difference... we "like" all our students, or we wouldn't be teachers :)
