Are you wanting to use the computer to do two seperate tasks at the same time thus needing a seperate keyboard like you stated? That is actually not the same thing as using two monitors and most PC's cant support the additional keyboard and mouse unless they are built to do that.

Adding a dual port graphics card will support a second monitor on most PC's today but it will still use the same keyboard and mouse.

Connect other monitor in extra monitor out let. Left click on an area of you desktop where there is nothing and then hit properties. When this comes up select settings and click the number 2. At the bottom it will have a box to check the says"extend my window to this monitor " or seeming like that. Click that box then click apply an then OK. Your scan monitor Will come right up. You may have to fool with the pixels to get it to fit but that's not hard. It's really cool actually. I don't now how I worked with only one screen before. Although every time you turn off you PC you have to disable this feature when it comes on and then re-enable it. You'll get used to it

Get a video card that supports it.

The card will say on the box and have multiple ports for monitor cables and plenty of memory and power.

Ask your friendly computer store guru.

Go to your local computer shop for advice on what you need and then look for it on the internet, where it will probably be cheaper.
