Well, let's see for engine types you have single cylinder, two cylinder, three cylinder, four cylinder, five cylinder and six cylinder, and even eight cylinder (in the Boss Hoss). Once you get more than one cylinder they come in all types of configurations. Variously angled v-twins, in-line threes and fours, v fives ( 3 forward, 2 back), flat opposed sixes and v-eights.

Beyond these standard designs there have been some odd designs.

Oh, I almost forgot 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines. These have to do with how the fuel is ignited in the cylinder(s).

therer are alot kind of engines. As far as what it is, it's that noisy thing below you on the bike. It makes the bike go.
