Working with inequalities is much the same as working with normal equations except that if you multiply or divide by a negative number then you reverse the inequality sign...
EX: 3 < 5 (seems pretty straight forward.. 3 IS less than 5)
-15 > -25 (multiply both sides by -5, reverse the sign)
If you get confused you can always try simple examples like this to determine what you should do.. I HOPE you realize that -15 IS greater than -25.. if not you need to refresh yourself on negative numbers...
With that said, you have already done most of the work, just one more step.. divide both sides by 2 so that you have x alone.

You manipulate inequalities much the same way as you do equations. What you do to one side, you also do to the other.
There is one important additional rule. Whenever you multiply an inequality by a negative number, you must reverse the inequality sign. However, that does not arise in this example.
8x < 6x + 5
The first step is to subtract 6x from each side.
2x < 5.
The second step is to divide both sides by 2:
x < 5 / 2.

You are correct so far. Just carry on to say:
x less than 5/2
x less than 2.5

first..you may desire to re-write the equation in mathematical sentence kind.. 6x + 5 < 8x then..you transpose 5 to the different factor.. 6x < 8x - 5 to remedy the equation relatively..transpose 8x to 6x which provides -2x.. -2x < -5 divide the two facets with the help of -2.. the respond is.. x < 2.5

when you solve the inequalitie take out the less than or more than sign (>,<) and replace it with the equal sign (=) then solve it the same way you would an equation. then once you hva ecomplited it put the less than or more than sign back in.
