I have had 5 children. The smallest was 8.1lb and the biggest was 11lb. The 11 pounder was my 3rd baby and I had a difficult birth. When I became pregnant with my other 2 after that, I spoke to an obstetrician and it was decided that I would have late scans and I would not be allowed to go beyond my due date. My last 2 children were both just under 10lb and I had them easily. If I was you I'd discuss it with your doctor or midwife and ask to be checked regularly. Tell them about your worries. It would be better off for you and the medical staff concerned for you to be induced, rather than sectioned. I hope you get on ok and go into labour a couple of weeks early yourself as this would be the best thing all round. Good luck and congratulations!

My friend had a baby in December. It was her 4th baby, all of her babies have been big, each one bigger than the one before. With this last one the Dr. offered to induce her labor a month early, he could tell how uncomfortable she was. She opted not to be induced because she wanted everything to be natural, including no pain medication. She did have a healthy baby, but there was a scare because he passed his meconium and they had to flush the sac out with saline solution the whole time she was in labor to keep the baby from aspirating on the meconium. By 36 weeks they say the baby's lungs are mature enough that the baby should have no problem if born at that time. Even if you were to deliver now the baby might need some oxygen, but most likely would be fine, but a Dr. probably wouldn't induce you for another couple of weeks. All you can do is ask your Dr. and see what he thinks. Some Doctors are hesitant do induce because due date is often just an educated guess and can be off by a couple of weeks or so, they don't want to take a chance and deliver too early. But sometimes if a baby is too large they will go ahead and deliver early to avoid complications to the Mom and the baby. I'm sending you a link about fetal development in the last trimester. I wish you the best of luck with your delivery, and your future pregnancies! http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/fetal-development/PR00114

You should not induce labour in the eighth month, there may be a problem with the baby's breathing then (I've heard that the eighth month is worse than the seventh). Once you're well into the 9th month, though, meaning after the 37th-38th week, you can give birth. I guess by "private" the previous answerer means if you are a customer who pays the bill, you can do what you like. I'd say discuss with your doctor. There may bereasons why he prefers one or the other solution. A C-section is not that bad anymore, though.

You can request to be induced but most doctor will not induce until a week before the due date. The reason is because a due date can be off by two weeks and there are risks involved. The baby could have a problem with his lungs they could be immature. His live could be immature and a lot of other things. You can always ask but I doubt they will do it before 39 weeks.

I don't know im sure they would induce u if they taught it was the best thing for the baby. i know u may want a natural birth but the baby's lungs would not be mature enough even if u got steroids to help the baby's lungs mature. they would be better off inside u. u r caught between a rock and a hard place. but maybe ur mind should be on the life growing in u at the moment and not the one u could possibly end up having in the future. But I'm sure the best place for baby at the moment is inside u. good luck

Ask your doctor if it would be possible. I dont see why it wouldnt be, as long as the doctors think your baby has spent enough time in utero. I have heard of a lot of doctors actually inducing early rather than waiting until natural labor kicks in. Most doctors would much rather you have a vaginal birth, simply because of the scarring a C section leaves. Good luck!

Id there is a resonable reason for the early labor so that the doctor justifies early delivery. Reasons...pregnancy is deathly for the mother. If there is a huge disabillity in the baby....which should be diagnoised early ingestation.
Two weeks before due date and two weeks after due date are considered term birth.
This is a conversation should be with your doctor.
Whatever is best for the child and yourself is the best decision.
Baby needs to be viable in the outside world
I hope that the doctor

You can ask, but go with your doc's recommendation. I was induced a few days after my due date, because he thought the baby was getting too big, but he was 8 lbs 3 oz - had to have an emergency c-section because he went into fetal distress after I was in labour all day - but all was fine.
