i am looking to become a model/ actress any advise on how i should persue my dream?

i am currently at a lost on how to jump start either one. if i can only accomplish one i'll be happy but im not sure how to do so plz help

Good for you; you have the guts to realize a dream and are willing to persue it.

Careers in the entertainment industry don't really 'jump start' unless you are insanely talented. No offense, but realistically, you're probably not. Think Beyonce or Johnny Depp. That kind of talent is a one in a million thing.

Take some modelling classes, that will work for you as an actress and as a model. Read some books, find some acting and modeling sights, take some speech classes, do a few community plays.. Prepare yourself. You also may need to find out if you really love it.

You have got to be really really passionate about it to make it happen. You have got to be tough, unafraid of what people may and will think of you, confident, more interesting looking than most of the population, really lucky.... I am not saying it's hopeless. Always keep in mind, "Someone's got to do it, why can't it be me?" But, also be realistic. It is so rare to become a big star, it doesn't just happen to you because you try your hardest and want it.

When you feel that you're even relatively prepared (you may be already) you should go about finding some auditions and maybe an agent.

Basically, get to know the industry and your own ability through some good sites, books, and teachers. Then see where you go from there.

You don't necessarily have to choose one or the other right away, although at some point you will. I started out at a model, and that segued into becoming an actress.

You will want to move to either NYC or LA, it's true. The best way to decide that is to decide what kind of actor you might want to be: stage, or on-camera. You can model in both cities (I was one in LA).

But before you take up modeling, take note of your height and weight. If you are taller than 5'9", and thin, you're off to a good start. If your bone structure is great, that's a positive too.

Don't do nudity, no need. But get great color photos from a professional photographer, not a friend. You'll need great color headshots that are different from modeling shots for your acting career.

My advice? Save a few thousand dollars before moving to either city, take some modeling and acting classes, and see where your passions lie!

The American Modeling industry is only located in New York City. If you want to model, you must live in NYC. The top modeling agencies are located here, as are the stylists, hair dressers, magazine publishers, publicists, fashion designers, and make-up artists. NYC models must be 5'9" tall and weigh 165 pounds.

Start to make up your mind. Model and actress are intirely different professions. It happens after you are a star in acting, mainly films, that you can model. Again make a decision first and then come back with question.

It takes a lot more than looks to be an actress like talent. Are you talented or have any training & experience. If not, try something else.

Either way, your going to need connections. So if you don't have them and you are pretty enough to be a model, I would suggest a little bow-chicka-bowwoh!!!
