Functionality first. Research the brand before buying.

Usually I go by brand name, since same brand names have usually the same functions. The brand is the assurance that I have a quality product and not something I have to junk in the short term.

functionality first and foremost. brand when the functionality seems all the same, incomparable, irrelevant or if I can't just plain decide. oh and guilty pleasures usually come in a form of a brand. I don't usually feel guilty about a great functioning product.

It depends on what it is. If it something like pasta, corn, hamburger, I go for the price because you can't really screw up or make any of those items noticeably different. If it's something like a TV, then I will go for brand.

None of the above, I go by reputation on how good the product is.
