I have been looking on the net and it seams that accommodation in Darwin is realy expensive? Why is that?

Does anyone have any ideas on a cheap option. An apartment would be great.

We are heading to Darwin from the 23rd of June for a week.

The cheapest accommodation in Darwin would be backpacker places. There are plenty of those in Mitchell St. Furnished flats are $250+ a week, usually with a minimum six month lease. Holiday apartments would be $100 + a day, cheaper in the wet season.
