At some point in the future, Scientists have found a cure for all illnesses....to prevent overcrowding on the planet the world governments say that everyone must work until the age of 50 at which point they will be given a million pounds or some other large sum, but at age 60 everyone would be humanely killed, would you agree?

I don't think it's gonna happen.
for obvious reasons.
1.where are the government going to get the money?
there will be more tax, vat, etc.that will be taken from our money, which we slave away earning.
2.cure all illness?
It would probably be at a cost, nothing on NHS,so you'll have to pay to be cured.
3.work till 50?
we already do that anyway,it's the only way to afford a basic living.
4.killed at 60?
does that include everyone,(celebs,the monarchy,etc.)
or just those that can't buy our lives back.
5.what will happen with the money?
the government, monarchy bank accounts become even fatter with money, they'll take all the money&property you owned whether you had a will or not and put it in their pocket.
6.how will the business cope?
they'll be richer before you can say money,if everyone rushes to buy up everything before they are 60.
7.how will it affect the planet?
we'll be producing more gases,petrol/disel fumes, cutting down even more forestry too create more houses, soon or later it'll catch up with us and......who knows.
8.how will it affect the wildlife?
more species will be endangered/extinct.
9.who/what are they gonna do about the bodies?
sell them for research, throw them in a landwaste.
10.who are going to get rid of us?
the maffia,mob,kgb.
11.what are they gonna do?
use the same method as someone did to that russian in london.
it just isn't gonna happen.

Beyond just answering this question...I feel the need to state my ideas, and point out some problems with the idea. First of all, I do not agree. I think if it became law...first of all, I imagine governments couldn't afford it, but to try to afford it they would seize all assests of the individual at the time of their death at 60. People would try very hard to spend the entire amount of their fortune as quickly and lavishly as possible. Cruise-Lines & sports car companies would gain far too much money for there overpriced goods, and the government for it's lack of funding, would collapse...Just a thought...

What, live the life of Reilly from 50 to 60. ? I don't think I would go for that. If they gave me an obscene amount of money when I was 20 I might consider it. !

I personally wouldn't although it might be a beneficial thing considering how many politicians are over 60.

Some say that's why the NHS can't ultimately work. It will be controlled by the best health provision being elitist.
