First off, never listen to anyone who naysays your ideas.

I think choosing something so politically relevant is a great idea. It shows that you are a risk-taker, and that you are aware of the most pressing issues in society, which is always what makes a successful comedy sketch. Also, SNL has its highest ratings during election season, when they impersonate all the candidates.

Just remember to actually be positive about it. These sketches seem negative, but they actually are not. I'm sure you already know to nail his physical mannerisms and take his top issue and his top weakness and go to the extreme with them. Have a blast!

With all due respect and in some agreement with answer number one, Political satire, humorous or not, may be a skate for Brit Coms or SNL, but initially an unknown may remain unknown to satarize touchy subjects such as Politics or Religion. One persons joke is often anothers offense.

Beyond that, you're choosing a topic and subject that has already been done to death. Politicians make such large targets, but so often the satire is a negative slam on them. Certainly some deserve it, IE: the current admin in this country, but I suspect your reviews won't all be glowing.

Too political for a first skit. Stay away from politics, religion and news related issues. Best to just make something up that is original.

NO!!! I will show that if you are looking for more serious stuff, they will, and if you are going for Comedy, it shows you belong in the drama show business.
