What about it?

UNC has several campuses. They are not all equally prestigious. By far the most highly regarded is the UNC campus at Chapel Hill. This campus is a well-respected university, probably one of the better state universities in the country. However, it is hard to get into because all the good students in NC want to go there! So, admission for a foreign student would be difficulty. You would need excellent SAT scores and a very high TOEFL score. You could be admitted to one of the other UNC campuses much more easily.

One reason for UNC-CH's prestige is its close association with Duke University and North Carolina State University. These three schools make up the Research Triangle, which is a well known hotbed of technical research. Duke and UNC CH are fierce athletic rivals but they have many academic programs which include faculty and students from both schools. Since Duke is one of the top private universities in the world, this gives UNC an added boost. However, UNC CH is certainly a respected school in its own right.
