Recognising the opposition's stengths and weaknesses well enough to exploit them. Playing together as a team; one player's good performance isn't lost in vain as other players can follow through and ensure that the match ends in a win.

Most important of all, I think is that India do not underestimate the oppostion, and neither do they weaken themselves mentally by thinking the other team has the upper hand. This simply leads to problems like during the World Cup.

If you look at the recent win against Bangladesh, our top four batsmen set a solid foundation. They recoginsed the Bangladesh's bowling well enough to build up a strong innings. That took care of the batting. The Khan came along and took quick wickets; if India's strong innigs helped to set Bangladesh a hige totol, Khan's wickets made sure that they wouldn't get anywhere near that goal.

Playing as a team like this weakens the oppostion early on, and the fact that Bangladesh had to take the follow on, reflects this.

If this is with reference to BanglaDesh then its obvious they to playing to children of Test Cricket World. No secret. It would have been worth finding the secret if they had lost to them. Even then there would be no secret. THIS is Indian Cricket Team. After all they want to make India on top of personal records, never for team work. :))

The secret is dat India developed their skills in bowling and fielding and batting and put their best to outwit Bangladesh in both ODIs & Tests.
D Karthick is suporting the team well with his wonderful knocks even as an opener as he hasn't opened any time earlier in Tests in the international scene.
RP Singh was also great in bowling as Ganguly & Sachin came back to some great hitting. Dravid too was great alongwith double-duck Jaffer.

India will perform better to lower ranking teams, but not to the higher ranking teams..
almost all the players are playing for their own records, not for the entire team
