I've read that pennies that are from before 1990s (I think) or 1989 something like that, will be worth about 5 cents each, due to the metal.
I'm not sure that they're already paying that for them, but just in case I have all of mine put away. See, pennies that are recent, are coated, therefore they aren't as valuable.

If you just have one penny it isn't worth much of anything (one cent). If you get a penny collection book and fill it with all the years from all the mints (Denver or Philadelphia or San Fransisco depending on what year it is) it could be worth something if you keep it and let the pennies in it get older.

Unless the cent is in very high mint state(meaning those with original mint luster and very few marks), then I'm afraid it's only worth its face value. Even in basic mint state(uncirculated but dull), it's still less than $0.30. Sorry, but 1963 is quite recent for coins and the mintage for the cent was very high. Although the metal value is higher than face, around 3 cents, but it's illegal to melt pennies.

It is worth one cent in money, but the date brings back memories to a lot of us out here. A lot of coins have no extra, or very little monetary value, but do have history value. It was a great time for the young and more and more women were going to college and were tell us guys off. They knew they were just as good as the guys in a lot of things, even better in some. Vietnam was heating up and the country was in for a bumpy time. We even lost a president that year, killed by an assassin or maybe more than one. So you see, it is a
historic cent.

It may be worth a few cents. There were several million minted, and still quite a few in circulation. Hang on to it, as it won't go down in value.

If it is in really good condition and looks like a brand new penny, it could be worth as much as $1.50
