do what i do, use their pre paid envelope to send it back to them. blank. they need to pay the postage when its returned. they soon stop sending them to you. it takes a few seconds to chuck it all in there and post it back at your convenience.

Here's a suggestion. I've done it a couple times but it hasn't become a habit yet.

Each of those credit card offers usually comes with a prepaid return envelope. Why not fill it with flyers from other businesses and put it in the mailbox? They can't trace it back to you, cuz there's no place for you to write your sender info on the envelope.
So save those coupons for 25c off a box of tampons, and the monthly specials for furnace cleaning, and the KFC and McDonald's inserts, and stuff them in the envelopes and send them back to Mastercard and Visa and Discover and Citibank. You can even send the original contents back minus your name and information. Maybe send a little note to the effect of "you keep sending me crap, so I thought I'd send some back."
Eventually, the credit card companies will get tired of all the junk mail and they'll pressure someone in government to pass a legislation banning all that stuff, and we'll win!

You can actually do this with any kind of mail-based solicitation, not just the credit cards.
Oh, and here's a lil bonus....the credit card companies actually PAY to get all your crap sent to them. They count on most people to just throw out the envelopes so they don't pay much for the return service.
Even just sealing it and putting it in the mail, sending an empty envelope, costs them money.
Worth turning into a habit methinks!

No just fill the return envelope with as much junk as you can fit into it and send it back to them. They gotta pay the postage and they'll get the Idea real quick you don't want what they're selling!

Yes, I agree. Also, whenever possible, people should sign up for paperless billing, I think that will also help.
Although, paper is recyclable.......
