1. Because being single is lonely and hard.
2. Because even bad men have lots of good moments.
3. Because they are physically bonded to them.
4. Because they aren't sure where to draw the line.
5. Because they are afraid of the unknown.
6. Because their kids will probably never be as loved by any other man in this world as they are by their biological dad.

There must be a reason why you had a baby with this man !
Instead of trying to change him or expecting change, you need to instead look at yourself and make adjustments. Unless you or your baby's life is in danger, you need to stick with him and give that baby a strong foundation from which he can feel safe and learn trust and flourish in life.
Does he love you even when you are unlovable? Love is a choice and if you have made a commitment tthen you need to stick with it. If you run from this relationship you will miss out on one of the greatest growth opportunities life can give you.
Seek help and encouragemnt from people who want to build up your marriage not tear it down. Seek ways to grow and suffer a bit because that is where growth happens.

Because they are a good Daddy to the baby.
I disagree with the first answerer. Love and respect grows for a man who is a good father. When a woman respects and loves her husband, the man's heart softens and is good to her.

A good reason? Not many but maybe some people look at the prospect of holding some semblence of the nuclear family together even if it's painful. They are afraid of the alternative.

There could be many reasons, but you said to limit it to one! So instead of thinking that the man will change, perhaps the woman thinks that she will change and be better able to deal with the daily hassles of a bad boyfriend/husband.

Because we hold onto the hope that he will change and be the man we were looking for. Sometimes someone gets lucky and find that man inside the one they are with, others it ends in hate and resentment.

I don't have a good answer as to why they stay. My answer though is .. out of stupidity. That old "but I love him" excuse that a lot of women give to their friends when they ask them why they put up with the crap they put up with. Let's not forget the timeless excuse.."because I love him and he is my child's father".. that seems to be a popular excuse these days. I prefer the term delusional.

I did that for 5 years till it ate me up and I walked away. You cant stay with them for the baby or eventually you will break or worst you will resent your child.
