Hi,
No this isn't a typo. I am 35 years old and lost my biological mother to cancer when I was age 19. I never knew my father and consequently grew up in the world without parents. I now have a family of my own. 3-children and a wonderful husband, My mother-in-law recently passed away and I am missing out on having parents in my life and grandparents for my children.
I miss not having a mother to share Mothers Day with or not having a Father to share Fathers Day. (with exception of my husband). So as weird as this may sound, it is cominf from desperation and sadness of needing parents in my life.

So, I dare ask the question.....
Where can I go to adopt parents or find or bond with "seniors"?
I would like to forge a bond with seniors or older adults perhaps to become close with to have in my life as surrogate parents for me and my family? IS there such a place I can go or maybe a website?

Thanks everyone for your help.

I'd volunteer at an Elks or old folks' home to make bonds there with people who will really appreciate the attention.

Most people in nursing homes will be much older and not able to participate as much in your life. While there are a lot of Baby Boomers without kids, this is a very risky endeavor because they are vulnerable when it comes to issues surrounding money and inheritance.

They are generally not in the best of health (my parents are alive and I'm in my 30's) and often suspicious of the motives of other people with few family members left to look out for them.

I have surrogate parents too, for various reasons and have also been a surrogate parent myself. I encourage you to first try to become friends with older adults in general and set aside your personal needs.

You must consider what you are willing and able to give and do for someone else. Will you pay for their nursing home care and medications? Will you drive them to regular doctor's appointments and be a caregiver for them when they break a hip? When they can't remember things or become moody or develop mental illness, will you stay with them?

First, you need a hug. *hug*
there, now... I would suggest going to an independent living facility or an assisted living facility and talking to the staff there. See if they have any patients that are healthy and don't require much help but don't have family near by and could use some extra company.
other than that, try a church maybe.
That's all I got... sorry.. Good luck!

maximum communities have an undertake a grandparent application. those are courses for older human beings to spend time with little ones, offering them the journey of having a grandparent and merchandising discovering and information by using generations. whilst the courses are geared in the direction of enriching the lives of seniors and coming up communique for little ones (taking part in checkers, telling thoughts, going fishing, etc...), by being in touch your finished kin reviews that bond. i might advise calling senior centers, nursing homes or perhaps volunteer institutions interior your community (chamber of commerce might desire to probably assist you in addition to mght). they might desire to have the means to direct you to a application, or inform you if there's a want. Volunteering at a nursing house is a huge thank you to help others and get what you're in seek of for. a great variety of seniors are located in nursing centers by families and don't receive visits and contact calls. Spending some hours a week purely traveling, taking part in cards, etc... at a senior domicile might desire to provide you precisely what you're in seek of for and brighten a great variety of others days. i'm hoping you detect what you're in seek of for.
