Each country has its own culture and traditions. You cannot compare any 2 countries. Of course America is more advanced and developed than India, yet India is a major developing country now. Its no longer behind. In each and every field , India is proving its supremacy.

I think the word you want is 'contrast': Whether South America or North, India has well established a presence. But in India, all western presence and influence is a controlled substance, it seems.
