ok my heater is retarted and doesnt tell me the real temp so when my heater for my fish tank is on i dont no how hot or cold it is so can i just get a normal house thermonoter and tape inside my tank to see what temp it is ?

p.s it isnt in any area where the themonoter can be broken

To work well the thermometer needs to be made for use in water and needs to be in direct contact with the water. I doubt using a household thermometer attached to the tank would give you a decent reading.

I got a thermometer At my local walmart in the pet section. they have digital ones and ones that go right inside the tank. I actually have both on my one tank. Just because i had the one and the tank came with the other. Good luck

i would jsut get a new thermonoter at your local pet store. theyre pretty cheap and its about the only thing u can do to know the temp...

Go to your local pet store and buy a new thermostat for your tank, they cost all of maybe $2-3 dollars. I have one that even has a markings of temperatures of best, good, and bad temperatures for fish and it has lasted me for close to 8 years now.

Mine was $1.50. Last week.

I'm a tight wad with the best of em but they are so cheap it really is best to stick with what is made for aquariums.
