This Military Retiree (and sibling to those STILL Serving -- we are 2nd Generation Americans) is ALSO the child of a DECEASED Paraplegic WWII Veteran (US Army, and 1st Generation American!) ...

So ... we WILL Be remembering all the sacrifices (past, present ... and future) on Memorial Day ... but especially that of our Parent -- the WWII Veteran (deceased for now over a quarter of a Century).

IF it were NOT for the sacrifices of those who VOLUNTEER to do what others refuse to do .. this Country would NOT be as GREAT as it is at this time!

Memorial Day formally called Decoration Day is not a day to celebrate the passing of friends. It is a day to celebrate the men and now women in the Armed Forces.

Every day is Memorial Day for me. Not a day goes by that I don't think about my father, mother and brother who died during the past 2 years. My father was a marine in World War II and I am proud that he served. My nephew was a marine in Desert Storm. Neither died in service. Still, I believe we should honor and respect all who serve, whether or not they died in the service of their country. For me however, when I think of Memorial Day, I am not only thinking about those who served their country, but I think of all of those I cared about who are no longer with me.
