if you are fully breastfeeding then it is okay as anything up to 10 days is normal (another reason to breastfeed LOL) if you use formula then that is not good. There is a chance he may be dairy intolerant as that is what happened to my son when he went on formula for a little while (he has a twin that kept up my milk and i got him back to breastfeeding and the problem fixed) What I had to fo was get a prune and put on some boiling water (2 tbl) let it soak for a few hours. Then put the water (take out the prune) in the bottle. Get to a doctor though and talk with him . Look at possibly changing the formula as a suggestion to the doc

Newborns are notoriously unreliable with the regularity. If you're breastfeeding him then don't worry, he's getting everything he needs and breastfed babies sometime go as long as two weeks between poops (I've known two like that, lucky parents-- mine went nonstop)

Formula fed babies could have all sorts of digestive issues so watch out for any excess gas/spit up, irritability, or swelling/redness that coincides with feeding and pooping in case your child has any intolerances.

Most likely if not pooping for two days is the only issue then you've got nothing to worry about.

Congratulations on the new one!

If he is breastfed then this is completely normal :-) Don't worry, he will do a huge one soon (breastfed babies can go up to 10 days without pooing)!

If he is formula fed, it is fine for them to only poo once every day or two, but if he goes longer than this then he could be constipated and may need cooled boiled water.

Does he look healthy and happy? If he seems fine it is most likely that he is fine and you can just give it another day or so before going to your doctor.

Can you ring your child health nurse, or the health line? I'm sorry I don't know where you are, but in Australia we have a 24 hour health line (HealthDirect) where you can talk to a registered nurse 24 hours a day for free.

If he's formula fed, this is pretty normal. As long as he doesn't seem to be in pain, there's no bleeding, and it's not rock hard, he isn't constipated - you could try giving him a tiny amount (1/2 oz to start) of prune or pear juice, that will loosen things up...

My daughter usually pooped every 3 days when she was little - scared me to death, but that's just her. She's almost three and still poops only every other to every third day.

You can always call up to the hospital and talk to an ob nurse or find the doc who is on call. I remember my baby didn't poop for two days and it scared the poo out of me. He finally did though and it was one big poop.! I think he pooped 3 times that day. My mom told me to give him a little bit of water, just an ounce or two and maybe it was coincidence but he pooped right after that.

I had the same problem with my baby at first but my doctor told me that some babies may take up to 2 weeks to poop still it is a good idea to watch the behavior if any fuzziness then take baby to the emergency room. Try giving water and also you may want to try suppositories at least until you get a hold of the doctor.

Dont worry about it, my son did that as well. Its actually normal believe it or not for a newborn to go 3 even 4 days without pooping, so enjoy the clean diapers for now soon they will be soooo stinky lol.

Don't worry! Babies can poop once a week or everyday. You should still see the doctor but don't worry too much. I find that if I give me baby a hot bath (not too hot) and then do leg exercises afterwards he tends to poop pretty soon after that. The biggest thing to always remember is your baby will act sick if he/she is sick. If the baby is happy then it probably is fine.

If the baby is cranky take to the Emergency room. But if he doesn't act like anything is wrong then he will be OK until your Dr's office is open.
