I mean, even if its bad strategically, who would want to get known as the player who gave up the one that passed Hank. Wouldn't it be better if he never even got the opportunity to tie him? Just walk him every time, until he retires from baseball, avoiding the fiasco about whether it was a legit career or not. What do you guys think about this?

I'm saying wouldn't you walk him to avoid the fiasco about whether he really deserves the title or not? Plus this is what they did when he was surpassing the Babe, but now its a bigger deal.

That sounds great in an ideal world, but the team he is playing against on any given night is there to win a ball game. Unless the situation calls for an intentional walk, it is simply bad baseball, and it will frequently lead to big innings which will lead to losses. However, given that, the pitcher who is going against him when he has 755 HR has to think long and hard if he wants to be the guy to give up #756. In that case, I'd drill the bastard every time!

No. You bring up a valid point most pitcher will pitch around bonds an almost unintentional intentional walk. Why try to stop something that WILL happen, i believe many pitchers would like to say they faced bonds not i walked him.

From your mouth to their ears - all of their ears.

It's as "sporting" as idea as is cheating with PED's.

Then again, as far as I'm concerned, Barry Lamar Bonds hasn't played since the end of the '98 season, and finished with a total of 411 HR's.

It really does not matter. WHo was the pitcher when Hank Aaron won the Home run title? Who cares?
Baseball is about sportsmanship. I think.

If you don't pitch to Barry because steroids, how do we protest The Rocket and the rest of the guilty pitchers?

I had the same thought, only I thought it should have been done since the beginning of the season. He probably would have quit by now.

no, he should get the chance
walking him every time would just say how scared the pitchers are of him.
he wouldnt get his chance to prove what he can do.
if he does break it though you are right there will be huge controversy.
