Driving doesn't matter. If you were charged criminally then if you are found guilty, you will be a criminal irregardless of the fine etc. Driving would only have made the charge worse. If you had one joint, that is usually a misdemeanor. Goes by weight in most states. If you had over 5 grams, then you might have a hard time explaining it as enough for a one-time use.
Alcohol is a legal drug. I know it causes as many problems as probably all other drugs together but is it legal and if drunk while driving you get busted just as you would for pot. Plus you're awful sensitive about being stigmatized for pot use. Maybe was true in the 60-70's but unless your applying for police work or something close, don't think it would matter unless you invite a problem by admitting use
I never read you original question so as far as being addicted, I don't have a clue if you are or not. Any, and I repeat any, substance that alters the way you feel to your perceived betterment, is potentially addictive.
Having said that, I also believe mankind is designed to seek getting high, by whatever means he finds good. Now, there's an honest opinion and nothing judgmental. Take it how you will

i think people are judgemental because we live in a society where we need an answer for everything and almost instintaniously so we can cope with what it is were delt with. if u say you smoke pot people Assume u must be a druggy and an addict because its to quickest most easiest answer without having to dig deepier to find a more suitable soulution. its in human nature to judge things as it also helps develop the skill to be non-judgmental. When u pass a faulse judgment apon person and realise what you thought was inacurite u strengthen the skill to know more about something before comming to an ultimate conclusion. well thats what i think n e ways.

Well you can't do whatever you want and expect everyone to still mollycoddle you.
Smoking marijuana is not ok whether you have enough for one, or a bag full of it. It's marijuana.
Just accept the fact that many people will not tell you it's ok.
Since you will still go ahead and continue smoking it, why should it matter to you what anyone else says? That's one tick on the list of characteristics of addiction. Is it not?

Maybe the folks out there rant and rave, perhaps someone in the family died because of someone's drug or alcohol addictions were not owing up to their responsibilities for their actions. Can't bring back their love ones.
My guess, is people who have zero tolerance to answering questions on a marijuana charges. They have dealt with man, depends on who you were asking! I think you asked the wrong person, that person may have had a 'real bad day'....
Ask someone else who can give you honest answers without passing personal judgements.

Well, I went and looked at your question, and noticed that you had two responses. One was from a cop. So, of course he's going to tell you you're a criminal and the other response appeared to be from a conservative-type. They tend to be pretty judgemental in my opinion. As for beating the charge, it depends. In Salt Lake, you probably won't win with a jury because your jury will be filled with a bunch of conservatives, The best bet is to try and get some kind of diversion, which means they will completely drop it provided that you take random drug tests and a drug-abuse class. Good luck. Go see a lawyer.

It's called life and life was never meant to be pretty, though there are a few pretty things in it.
I hate people that are so quick to point the fingers at others , especially when you have the proof of innocent to back it up.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH SPARKLES........PEOPLE ARE SO PATHETIC TO PASS JUDGEMENT ON OTHERS. IF YOU LIKE TO SMOKE, MORE POWER TO YOU. SOME PEOPLE LIKE IT, SOME DON'T AND SOME JUST CANNOT BECAUSE OF RANDOMS. SO LONG AS YOU ARE NOT BEHIND THE WHEEL, SELLING IT TO CHILDREN, OR TRYING TO PUSH IT ON OTHERS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH WHAT YOU PREFER. PEOPLE ARE EXTREMELY CRITICAL, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY CAN HIDE BEHIND THE CLOAK OF A COMPUTER SCREEN. GOOD LUCK ON THE CHARGE....................................
