I wouldn't. It's not worth dieing for. It's suicide. You get killed and you put your family through hell with depression, grief, and sorrow. You will left behind your spouse and your children. I can never do that. I would rather stay with them as long as I could. These guys are braver than I am. God bless them and may the force be with them on this Memorial Day.

As much as I want to be the next G.I.Joe, I think I will pass. I think my wife and my family is more important than any military in the world. That's just my opinion.

And not to mention you come home with a deformed face and missing body parts. How can you live with that? I can't. I might as well better off being dead. And yet this guys just dieing to go back on duty after the terrible accident. I really don't understand the mentality of that person. I think that person has been hit too hard on his/her head. That person is nuts.

By the way none of my family member would ever join the military. It's out of the question. We admire their courageous act but also find them little bit strange. Yo Joe!

For them it's a family tradition that goes back to their grandfather in WWII. Ace Skylar McCloud III's grandfather is also a Air Force fighter jet pilot during the war and Jackson Stonewall Bricks III's grandfather is just a regular infantry foot soldier. And their dad also been in Korean War and Vietnam War.

I would never join the military. I wouldn't want any of my family or friends joining either, but hey, it's their lives, their decision. My boyfriend is in the Marines, but he had already served his term and was in the reserves by the time I met him. However, they called him back for activation. He's going to Korea for 6 months. My cousin is in the Airforce, and I have one friend who is in the army, and he's in Iraq. I have another friend wanting to go into the army. I don't want him to, but he's a determined adult. There's not a day that goes by that I don't worry about all of them, as well as those soldiers out there who have families that worry about them. It really is scarey.

First of all you can't control what others want to do. I am currently in the Army; I work in the laboratory. The soldiers that are on the front lines need medical support. Someone has to fight for this country. Perhaps not this specific war but many wars in the past could not be avoided. I'm proud to serve and would let my children serve in a heartbeat. It's all about passion and loving this country enough.

O.K, A.) Since you're a feminine, you will not be doing any battle operations. At first-rate, you'll be able to be doing patrols round already cleared out cities and villages speakme to the locals, does not imply you continue to have a risk of being shot at, however now not practically up to the men do. B.) Your mothers and fathers have got to realize that if all people idea like they did, we do not have a army. If all people was once un-patriotic, and a number of *******, no-one could enlist. This is an all volunteer army so when you desire to enlist, do it.

I could not be in the military. My brother is in Iraq. He inlisted when the war started. I pray for him. My parents tried to talk him out of it, but he wanted to go...guess he's doing what he feels is right. I pray for all of those that are over there. I pray for their families to. I pray for those who have died because of this war, both American and those from Iraq. Especially the women and the children. Though I may not want to be im the military or fight a war, someone has to do it nd God Bless those who are brave enough to step up to the plate.

My husband is retired military, my oldest son did one tour and my youngest is as I write in Iraq. Obviously you've never had any dealings with the military. Our family never went through hell, nor has any of us been treated for depression. You are no more risk of being killed in the military than you are being struck by lightening, your more apt to be killed in a car wreck or be murdered. Not all military people see war or any kind of conflict.
As far as "letting" someone join, once a person is 18 they don't need anyone to "let" them join.
So sorry to think you don't think our country or it's people are worth dying for.

It's not for everybody, that's for sure. I was never in it myself as they ended the draft right about the time I would have been called to Viet Nam. But thank God there are several people who will join and fight for the USA. I have nothing but total respect and admiration for them. And just in case any are reading this, I want to say Thank you very, very, very much. You are all heroes in my book.

I don't think I could be military myself, no. As for letting any of my family members, it's not my place to "let" them do anything. I have the utmost respect for all of the men and women who risk their lives for our country. If my son or husband wanted to join, I would be afraid for him, but I would also be the proudest mother/wife in the world.

It is not anyone's decision but theirs. When this war started, it was a matter of honor. Now, I think it's a matter of ego, and not wanting to lose everything they worked so hard to achieve over there. Luckily everyone I know who went is home safely now. But I know of others who were not so lucky.
