Do those cleaners they say are made for them really work? What are your experiences with this problem? I had chicken gravy to boil over and it seems impossible to get the stove top clean. Please help.......

The manufacturers recomend the cleaners that you can get almost anywhere for those tops. Abrasives will ruin the top, so DO NOT USE scouring pads, S.O.S. pads, Ajax, or anything like that. For your particular boil over, they recomend a razor scraper, (should have come with the unit), Like you use to scrape a sticker off a car window. The burned on stuff will scrape off if you just gently scrape at an angle.

I have done housekeeping for a resort for years. I have experience with glass top stoves. Use what it calls for. Don't scrub them. It will scratch the surface. There is a cleaner for these tops. I can't remember the name. Call your local Sears and ask them what to use. :)

The cleaners especially made for the flat top ranges have always worked for me. I had one of those type of ranges installed in 2003 and it still looks like new.

I know how you feel....but yes, it's possible to get them clean. Here's how I do it:

1. Using one of those scrubbers that hold dish soap in the handle, use hot water and scrub with this.
2. Wipe off the excess soap. Using one of those scratch proof scrubbers (sponge on one side, green scrubby surface on the other), use some muscle and scrub all those black/brown stains off.
3. Use Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to get the most stubborn stains off.
4. Wash one last time with dish soap and rinse.

Just look at the sparkle now!

Cerama-Bryte and one of those dish scrubbers made out of plastic (like an onion bag) or soft cloth mesh should do it. Anything really burnt on, very carefully scrape using a glass scraping blade, then follow up with the Cerama-Bryte. An old t-shirt is good for the "soft cloth" called for.

you don't want to use a abrasive pad to will do damage to the top,the products they sell works, but for your problem you might have to spray a cleaner on the spill and let it sit a few minutes

I have tried many different options with cleaners. I finally bought those copper or steel scrubbing pads and they definitely do the trick...
