I mean, what kind of sport is that? A sport that encourages people to be fat? What do you find in baseball? Are you serious? While the world worships SOCCER, some people are fooling themselves around baseball! Just like golf, it has nothing that is linked to sport! It's boring, it's stupid, man, it's just crap! They should not show that thing on TV! Baseball is just, GROSS!

I have a brilliant idea. DON'T Watch it.
Millions of people disagree, but then who are they? You know better, don't you?
Some people fool themselves into thinking soccer is a sport. A bunch of Nancy's running around in silk shorts, having orgies when one kicks a ball into the net. Wow, what a challenge.

Okay well first of all before getting all worked up, we have to realize that this black French guy knows nothing about baseball and its some ignorant question. He is used to his 6 page rulebook of soccer and will probably never learn half the rules of baseball, therefore he will never understand the game and never learn to appreciate it.
The only reason I found this question odd was that the poster compared baseball to soccer as if it were boring. If it were coming from a fan who worshiped hockey, basketball or football then maybe I could understand him complaining about boredom. I watch both baseball and soccer and honestly I derive 10 times more entertainment from a baseball game than a soccer game. Baseball is more of an athletic chess game where even if you do make all the strategically right decisions you may not come out the winner. In baseball, you have a lot more decisions than pass, shoot or flop to the ground like you've been shot hoping the other guy will get booked. (I know that last sentence was ignorant but not as ignorant as this guy's ramblings about baseball)
The reason soccer is loved by the world is because it is the easiest game geologically and financially to play. No matter where you are from or how much money you have, you can scrounge together a ball or something resembling a ball and kick it around. The fact that soccer is appreciated by millions more people does not surprise me.

Baseball is very much a sport. The hardest thing to do in any sport is hit a pitch. The hand eye coordination and athleticism that is take is beyond anything in any other sport. The second toughest thing in sports is hit a golf ball off a tee. For those who say golf is not a sport have never tried this and this is a stationary ball, so imagine the talent it takes to hit a moving pitch. Finally baseball is much more exciting then soccer when a viewer understands the game of baseball. Soccer's field is to big and the game centers around midfield, not a lot of excitement in 1-0 game, when there is a total of 5 shot on goal. I understand why the rest of the world doesn't like baseball the same way I understand why Americans hate soccer, neither understands each others game and lack of scoring in soccer is a turn off.

Soccer is fine and all, but it's like hockey on grass with a really big goal. The world cup is fun to watch and the English Premier League is a great league, but Baseball is Americas sport. It's the only sport where on 1 team has the ability to score at a time. Nobody is gonna come out and try and hit the ball while the opposing team is batting. The other reason it's a great sport is because it goes from peace with two men against eachother to all-out chaos when the ball leaves the pitchers hand and anything can happen. It's also nice that I live in Minnesota and my team is one of the little guys just playin ball.

Soccer isn't that great of a sport either. As for the World Cup, I am proud to see my native Italy win.
A for baseball, it is a great sport that can do fine without idiot people like you.
Enjoy your soccer, no one cares about it. I have yet to see a sell-out MLS game.
Before you go off on a little tangent, I've played soccer before, and honestly, it isn't that hard, just take a foot, kick the ball, and hope it goes in. Yes, it involves more cardio, but it's not a mental game whatsoever.
Baseball, try hitting a round ball traveling at 90 MPH with a round bat, square.
One last note, baseball players don't fall down on purpose faking an injury like what I've seen in the World Cup.

Actually. No, TV isn't any part of your body in coordination(keyword frenchman.=P) with your eyes. I didn't say anything about moving your hips, I talked about RUNNING, I'm pretty sure even a Frenchman can tell the difference between those two. I don't mean a "OH S*** I LEFT THE COOKIES IN THE OVEN!" kinda running either. I'm talking distance running or sprints.
And even "mentally challenged" people can watch TV.
Which I'm starting to think you're one of.
Of course, either way we look at it, you're going to be deadset that soccer is the almighty sport that will never fall in popularity because too many gay people like to watch men run around sweating and rip off their clothes when someone puts a ball in a net.
----------------------------------------------------------------
after reading your bashing of every person who tried to stand up for reasons baseball is a sport.
I'm gonna go ahead and give it a shot.
Baseball is a sport, just like any other.
It involves running, hand to eye coordination, reflexes, a sharp mind, strong arms, legs, etc., and teamwork.
Now if you say that running isn't part of a sport, you basically say soccer isn't a sport, because it is full of running, that's one down.
Hand to eye coordination, if that isn't part of a sport, then you disown soccer goalies, saying that they aren't athletes. Two down.
Reflexes, now you can disown anyone that has tried to head a ball into the goal, because if having the reflexes to know to get up there and get their head into the ball isn't part of a sport. That's three.
A sharp mind, I don't care what you can say about any sport. ALL SPORTS HAVE A MENTAL ASPECT TO THEM!!! Whether it is intimidation, trickery, etc. that's 4
Strong arms, legs, etc.- Ok, so not all baseball players are in shape, we'll give you that. But they still have the strength to either hit the long ball, or throw the ball 90+ mph, I'd like to see a soccer player do that, no offense. Hey, that's 5!
Teamwork, you, I'm assuming a soccer fanatic, cannot disown teamwork. You know just as well as I do that it takes more than one person to work together in any sport. Baseball takes just that, 8 people other than the pitcher, working their butts off to cover an entire field so that (hopefully) no ball drops onto the ground at any place, or so that no runner can beat out a ground ball. And my next to last point....
And in your reference earlier to the fact that any person with two arms and two legs can play baseball...that's true, but nobody ever said they'd be any good at it.
Thank you and have a nice day.
-Your typical smart*** teen

*gag* THIS again ? *rolling eyes* Here we go one more time. Here's a question for you :" Why does Europe produce so many One-Sport -Myopian Athletifacists. ?"
"Variety is the spice of life"
Does that saying mean anything to you ? It 's possible to like and enjoy more than one sport (or almost anything else) . There can be one than one good one . Should there be only one television channel? One flavor of ice cream? One movie? One book? Even if YOU have only one interest , why does it bother you that somebody else has more?
ps. Somebody in France must like baseball, because a team from one of our Sister-Cities, La Teste-de-Buch, Aquitaine, comes here every year , to play in The World Youth Classic. Oh yeah, reminds me ," the world worships" BASEBALL also, at least most of it does. Only Europe is somewhat remiss . Teams have come here to lli' 'ol Binghamton, from all over the Western Hemisphere, Asia, Australia , France, The Netherlands ,and the Middle East (working on Africa), just to play some baseball.
(pps Suspect that you are actually an American soccer-hater, yanking our chain , to provoke some soccer/Euro - bashing. Most I've run across with your purported point of view , get bent out of shape when WE call it "soccer", instead of "football. ;D)
Won't give up ,eh? OK........"Do you guys even know the world cup? " Uh , ..yeah , I could be wrong , but that's probably why so many had parties & other gatherings on the day of the Cup final . Big celebrations and an impromptu parade when it was over (Thousands of Italian descent here.) Was glad at the result, as it put many of my coworkers, customers, and others in a good mood the next day . That fool Zidane*, (Oh yeah, ...France LOST!)was the topic of much conversation the next day, even among those that had no other interest in it.
" ... No! Go outside the US, ands ask! Soccer is religion, baseball, ...." Apparently you've never been in Boston (& all of New England) when the Yankees are in town .
*Paraphrasing someone elsewhere , ( he said Ray Lewis;D) , Imagine if Zidane head-butted Kyle Farnsworth or Jason Varitek ? =)) (Now ,that there's funny , hehe)

i'm sincing some attitude here. hmmm what is that smell? i don't think you are asking us a question. something tells me you are lecturing us that you don't care for baseball.
WELL, i don't know why or how you came to this conclusion because baseball may be the best of all sports! ah, to play the great game is truely a joy. it takes so much practice to perfect the skills needed to play the great game, the athleticism can not be denied. taking grounders all day, learning to turn and run back on a fly ball and make the over the shoulder catch, not to mention trying to hit a round ball with a round bat are all a part of it! BUT then to have it all come together on the field and make that catch or get that hit that saves or wins the game is AWESOME BABY!
when you see the major leaguers make it look easy, and so boring to you, believe me, they have paid a price for those skills. this FACT proves not only have you never tried the great game but you havent watched much of it either. i don't understand or like soccer or hockey because i never played them; BUT i don't say they arent sports or condemn those that appreciate those sports.
ah baseball! i love it!
addendum: um yeah i said baseball may be the best sport which expresses MY honest opinion. again, i suggest you go through the work needed to acquire solid baseball skills and then tell me it's not a athletic sport. and i don't know where you saw the fat guys on the baseball field; could that have been a beer league softball field?

I'll tell you what. i will give you a 31 oz. bat, one baseball, and Johan Santana sixty feet six inches away from you. you try to hit the ball. you can't do it. i don't care what you say, hitting a baseball is actually the hardest thing to do in sports. the only reason that some people are so good at it is that they have spent their entire lives doing it. you try hitting a slider that looks like it is coming right at you and then breaks so hard, that it ends up in the strike zone.
If you want to like baseball, you have to start watching it with somebody that knows and appreciates the game. Baseball is the pastime of the greatest country in the world, maybe ever. You're just an uneducated person who talks before thinking and formulating a real opinion.

I'll respond one at a time.
Baseball is a sport because physical skills are used to achieve a final measureable goal. Outscore your opponent.
Yes I am serious.
Baseball is a sport that can be played with strength or speed. Always must be played 'between the ears' with the mental knowledge of situations to be sucessful. Great hand-eye coordination is a must.
Players are not encouraged to be fat. It is a detriment to their baserunning and fielding skills. The value of heavy power hitters and pitchers must be weighed against what you lose in the field.
I find the suspence and anticapation of what is about to happen to be what I like best about baseball. I enjoy the small things that the average sports fan doesn't know is happening when watching baseball.
Again I am serious.
There is no arguement as to the world wide popularity of soccer. Just because I am not a big soccer fan does not diminish what the athletes involved achieve. In fact I find their footwork and ball handling skill to be abolutely amazing.
Golf? Seems like a seperate issue from baseball with its own merits.
Boring, stupid, and crap seem to be your opinion with little to back it up.
Feel free to change the channel and find something less gross to your tastes. I recommend re-runs of Fear Factor.

You need a combo of different talents to be successful in baseball, like soccer. A goalie trains and is built differently than a striker or defender. Some players have more speed, stamina, strength. Some are taller, some depend on being shorter. You have to think and react very quickly. Physical contact is a requirement. Injuries occur frequently. Typically games are low scoring. The team that scores the most points wins. Which sport am I describing? Both, actually. However, baseball doesn't have ties.
