A wizard is a male, a witch is a female. Also, witches, according to mythology, are bad. They conjure up evil spells and potions.

Wizards on the other hand, though they also can do magic, do it to help. Think of Merlin, he was a wizard, and was said to help King Arthur.
Also, witches use their magical powers by either pointing at something with their finger, or murmering a spell, or making a potion. Wizards use wands. Sure, they also say spells, but unlike witches, their power is only conjured up with the help of a wand

I think a witch is usually bad and is like a freelance wizard. Wizards can be bad, but usually are good and serve a king and go though proper learning. By the way, a warlock is a male witch, not a wizard.

Nothing really. Some guy named Gardner wrote a book in the 50's claiming that there is an unbroken chain of witches from the old days still alive in modern time. However he has been disproven. Generally speaking both are frauds today.
