I'm agnostic and I am tired of people talking to me like I am a Christian, just because I might look like the stereotypical christian doesn't mean I am one! Why do people always insist on quoting the bible like I know what they are talking about or belive what they are saying! I don't have a problem with people voiceing their beliefs just don't make it sound like I should agree. I am also talking about random people I meet at the Dog Park or at the store, not eveing knowing these people makes it to where I can't just be like 'Yeah what ever I am agnostic!'

First of all I am not upset by it I am just asking a question! And I am not putting all of y'all into one group that is why my question doesn't say 'all', but it says most! If you do research this country was not founded by Christians, that is what they are feeding you,(no need to sip the koolaide) Most of our founding fathers were atheist or agnostic! Again I am just asking a question not trying to start anything!

Because many christians are strong in their faith. just like you are steadast in your atheism. the majority of people in the us as well as the people christians know are christians. You would talk like your an atheist right? You don't talk to people assuming they are Christian do you? And if you do then you've got your answer. People view the world as they live and see things through their own eyes. People are always going to have preconceptions, it's innate. it's like you would go up to most people in America and assume they speak english, or that someone in france speak french. unless they're obviously a tourist. thats why MOST-like you sad, christians assume you're christian too, that is most christans you've met or dealt with.

If you have never read the bible, how then can you say that you disagree with it.I read it first and then chose not to believe. You really should know what others are talking about before saying that their way of thinking or their beliefs are wrong.I have never in my life had people always insisting on quoting the bible at me especially randomly at the store.Just where do you live?

This country was founded on the principles of Christianity and that is what the majority of the citizens are. Just tell them that you do not believe that there is any kind of God. Is it that hard?
I do believe in Jesus and I dont force my belief in him on anyone, but that does not mean that I dont share with others about him too. If I meet someone that does not want to talk about him, thats o.k. We are told by Jesus to tell other about him and they are to make up their own minds. Dont get so upset about it, its America and we all have our own way of thinking.

Most people in this country are Christians, and I will admit that I have been guilty of assuming others were Christians..

like the person below said they assume that most people are, because its one of the largest religions in the USA besides Islam and Hinduism which are growing so they just go on thinking you are until they find out otherwise than may try and wein you into it too is what i have noticed

I know what you mean. I am tired of people asking me what church do I go to? As if I have to go to church for them to speak to me, then they get upset with me when I say I am not a Christan and but I believe in God. You don't have to defend your beliefs, just tell them you don't believe in talking about religion and politics with someone you've just met. That works for me.

Hey, I was raised without religion, and I remember feeling really weird as a kid whenever I would go over to a friend's house and their family would have a long prayer before the meal... At first I just couldn't believe that other families weren't raised atheist like us too. Those strange people.

When they quote the bible just think of it as great piece of literature. Do you get bothered when they quote Shakespeare or a Beetles song?
