In Christianity, Demons were originally the host of angels that fell from grace. Later, when missionaries were spreading the religion and converted people, ALL gods and goddesses of their previous faith were labeled as demons.... and pagan

In Buddhism, Taoism and Hinduism, On the surface, Demons are a class of spirit beings born of darkness with aggression and a lot of anger.... they have power but are unable to defeat the the spirits born of light called the devas or the gods.

In deeper analysis, Buddhists consider outer demons to be a minor annoyance, but inner demons are the REAL enemy that keep a being suffering and constantly in pain... Inner demons of Greed, Hatred, Ignorance, Delusion, Jealousy, Pride....etc. IN Buddhist meditations, especially of the Tibetan School... many sections make descriptions of Demons, for the uninitiated... they will think OH MY GOD! What the heck's that??? ( I know i did ) But the deeper meaning and symbolism is explained, and such imagery, is representative of the negative aspects present within all of us. Do we allow it to take over? OR do we allow the "Good" aspects of our psyche to be in control. Buddhism and most eastern philosophies... focus a lot more on the Mind rather than blind belief.

Demons (daemons) are Christian constructs. Any Pre-Christian (Shamanic/Pagan) spiritual beings that did not agree with Christian dogma were made into demons to encourage the masses to abandon their "wanton" beliefs and convert, although *some* were made into saints as well, especially when the Church just could not convince the masses that the particular being in question really was "evil"... such as the goddess Brigiht, a very ancient and venerated by the indigenous Celts to this day goddess, who became Saint Brigit. Although, her consort, Lugh (Lucifer) became the most "evil" of all!

They are the offspring of angels and women, originally having eternal life (not immortality, but eternal life, meaning that immortality means 'not just having life but actually BEING LIFE ITSELF!' If your immortal, you simply cannot die, ever! Eternal life is totally different - it means that your soul is eternal (like your Father) but your physical body its housed in is subject to physical breakdowns and one day your physical body will die leaving your soul free to roam without a physical shell, causing your taste, sight, smell, etc., to change into new, perhaps even less pleasing methods.

They for the most part, died out during the flood. Their fathers came down during the 500th year of Jared, 5th in line from Adam (his name actually means, "when they came down") and you can find out more by doing a yahoo search for The Book of Enoch which tells the entire story. Then read The Book of Jubilees.

By the way, Lilth is even mentioned in the Bible - talking about how she and other demons like to dwell in "desolate places." Places where others have lived and abandoned, old warehouses, hospitals, sanitariums, wastelands, old houses, etc.

Good luck.

I don't know if I know but I can only tell you that they could be those crazy looking creatures when I was in my twenties that came floating up out of my floor and stared at me. It looked like the creature from the black lagoon but several times larger. Perhaps it was that creature that didn't have any mouth, was see through and made me feel warm and liked for no reason.
But usually people think demons are people who cause them a lot of grief on earth.

Well, before the Judeo-Christian philosophy got hold of them and turned them into evil things, demons (or daemons) were any powerful, non-god beings.

That would include Superman, all your favorite super heroes, Mr. Mixyespittlik, genie, any fae, fairies, mononoke, leprechauns, Loki, tengu, oni, tanuki, etc., etc.
Not all were bad, not all were good, many were simply indifferent to humankind. Kind of like landlords.

Turgid supernatural fantasies used as a theatrics tool to moralists and playwrights or in screenplays such as the TV series "Angel". Remember in the business of religion there is no truth in advertising and the churches need your support and tithes anyway. this is what the clergy tell me behind closed doors and I'm not their enemy only their critique.

being of evil. Minions of the greater evil or the Devil (Satan).

Christians: Devil's "helpers" they are the ones who attack peoples lives and created chaos. They can occupy someone and take possession of their bodies. They can be expelled through exorcism.
