Easiest way maybe not the MOST effective but to get alot of power takes alot of money :P. Cold air intake can make about 10 to 15 extra horses if you get a good one. Good ones are about 300 dollars. You can alo get a catback exhaust system those run about 500 maybe a lil more for a good one you get those two things and you will notice a diffrence. I dont know if they make chips for that car or not but if they do those can do some amazing things.

If you want to take it to the dragstrip, buy a couple bags of ice to throw on top of your intake after every pass...just be sure to get the excess water off so it doesn't drip on the track. It doesn't cost anything to reduce the weight: jack, spare tire, lug wrench, rear seat, blower motor (under the dash) if you don't want A/C or heat, remove A/C compressor, sound deadener from under carpet, etc. You could remove your catalytic converters, beat the insides of them out, and reinstall them (though this will make your car illegal in the eyes of the emissions people) Change to all synthetic fluids (engine oil, tranny fluid, gear oil). That has been shown in some magazines I have read to add around 6-10 HP. You could make a home-made cold air intake. For example, the intake air inlet is right behind the Passenger headlight on my 91 AWD Mitsubishi Eclipse. When I take it to the track, I remove my headlight so the engine will get more air. Always make sure you are on top of your Scheduled Maintenance (plugs, wires, filters) to make sure your car is running at it's peak performance. Check to make sure you are getting wide open throttle when you mash the gas. Get someone to mash the gas, without the car running, then see if you can move the throttle body butterfly with your hand. If you can, adjust it. Also make sure your timing is set correctly. Hope that helps!

Bigger headers, exhaust, and a cold air intake will increase some power. It may cost a couple hundred depending on what brand you go with, but depending on it'll save you more money in the long run. Cause it'll help increase your mpg's. And if your still wanting even more power you can put in a superchip to add some more power.

It is fairly easy to do, I istalled one on my pickup truck. Youll need a screwdriver or a nut driver, and wrenches. First youll be removing the cars stock intake system. Most KN kits have you remove the stock airbox (where the air filter is located.) First find your intake tube. It will be a large plastic tube connected to the intake manifold with hose clamps. it is in the front of the engine compartment, and mist likely connected on top of or on the side of the engine. Undo the hose clamps there and the ones connected to the air box. Also between the tube and the airbox there will be a mass airflow sensor. It is usually attached to the airbox and the intake tube is clamped to it with hose clamps. you will see wires connected to it . Save this piece as it will be re installed (its 200 to 300 bucks for a new one.) Look at the directions with your kit. If you do have to remove the airbox its usually just a couple of bolts. Also if your kit has you remove it they supply a new one for you KN filter. There is a rubber gasket that youll have to put on this new piece. They also supply a new intake tube and hose clamps. Attach the mass airflow sensor and new tube. There is also another hollow round piece that attaches on the inside of the airbox. Finally, attach the new round filter over this piece. It should take only an hour or two max. Look at your instructions for details specific to youre car, as I have never dealt with a mazda or any foreign car for that matter.
