He was and is very valuble to the Yankees his entire carrer but his numbers just aren't there to get him into the hall.He was a very good defensive catcher but he was nothing eye-poping. He should be in the Yankee hall of fame but not in Cooperstown.

I am a Red Sox fan, and I would say he is pretty close. Right now he is not in the hall of fame, but if he can play another 3 to 4 productive years and can get to 300 plus home runs as a catcher I would say he has a good chance to be in the hall of fame. I dont know if he will ever get the respect he deserves by the voters. So at this point I would say no because the chances of a catcher with the amount of games he played staying healthy in his late 30's are low, but if he ages gracefully he could be a hall of famer.

Catchers are not often in comparison to everyone yet different catchers, because of the fact the placement is so unique. Offensive numbers are below very just about the different offensive place, because of the stress that catching places on the physique. Posada compares favorably, for my area, to lots of the catchers who're interior the corridor of repute. you do no longer may be the suitable participant in history to make it to the corridor- technically, you purely could be as reliable because of the fact the worst participant in there. only having 5 earrings does no longer advise you're a corridor of famer, yet being a contributing member of five international sequence championship communities can. If he replaced right into a backup that barely ever observed any time on any of those Yankee communities, it is not suitable how many earrings he had.

Being a Yankee does not make a player a HOF'er. Yes, I'm bursting peoples' bubbles here, and deliberately so.
Posada's numbers simply aren't all that close.
BTW, there is an informal formula for determining whether or not any given player, at or near the end of this career, has the numbers that would put him close or make him a maybe. They were put together by Bill James, based on his examination of the then-existing list of HOF'ers. They are listed on the second link below, and are used by that site in order to determine if any given player is a potential HOF'er. And as you can see, post-season performance is accounted for in these formulae.

If he has three to four more years as a catcher of battinng around .320 with 25 home runs and 100 RBI. Otherwise he's short.
Winning the MVP this year which he is definitely an early candidate will help, but Jorge's team isn't going to contend and that will make it tough.

No. Just look at his numbers although he helped the yankee's win chamionships he was not the most valuable player on those team. Quality pitching and timely hitting (jeter) lead those crowns. Although posada played well he just did not put up the numbers, and yes he was part of the championship team but they were composed with a great PAYROLL umm i mean a great team of players.

So was Jeff Nelson. Is he a Hall of Famer too? Seriously, if Posada was a career Royal, or a career Pirate, this question wouldn't even be asked.

Since he isn't quite at the end of his career, this is a hard question to answer. But as a nearly 36 year old catcher, the end, at least as a catcher, is coming soon. His numbers right now just aren't quite good enough. He is a very good player, a key contributor to many pennant winners, but he just isn't a HOFer.

Posada is an average player at best, and is one of those who are vastly overrated because of the team they play for. The only way he will ever enter the Hall of Fame is if he buys a ticket for admission like everyone else who visits.

Mediocre doesn't get into the hall of fame. No, Jorge Posada will never get in.
