At one year old, my son was still a bit young to have a favorite character, so I did a cake with his picture on it (most cake places can do this), and it was absolutely precious. As far as fillings, I would try to get something that the majority of the people who will be eating it would like. I did ice cream cake, and it went over well, since there are usually not many people who don't like ice cream!

What kinds of toys does he like best?? My son loooved animals so I did a jungle theme on his big cake. Wal-Mart gives a free small cake for the 1st b-day. It just had sprinkles on it. If he likes toy trucks and cars do that on his big cake. My son stayed up all day cause there was company over. He didn't have a nap and didn't really care about any of it....lol. I think it is more for the adults than it is the child anyway. At one they really don't seem to care they just want to dig into cake and rip open packages.

nicely we did a frog cake for our son's first b-day. yet this 300 and sixty 5 days we ordered a cupcake cake from the community bakery. It replaced into so large. there replaced into 24 cupcakes placed part via part and that they frosted the entire ingredient like one massive cake. It replaced into relatively elementary to serve the visitors and relatively a one 300 and sixty 5 days previous would not consume greater advantageous than a cupcakes nicely worth of cake.

Our local grocery store gives out a free 1 layer 8 inch cake for babies first birthday, so that was what we had for him. The larger cake was Spider-Man because that was the theme for his party.

My daughter's was a Betty Crocker cake, nothing fancy. My husband did draw a lady bug, a duck and a couple of her favorite toy shapes on the cake. It really looked great!
