Without knowing the angle between the 2 sides you cannot answer the question. If it is a right triangle then the 3rd side is the square root of 8 squared + 8 squared (or 8 time square root of 2) (A squared plus B squared equals C squared. An isosceles triangle would be the other type and the third side could be anything from 0 to 16 (not inclusive).

If the triangle had two sides of 8', then if it were a right angle triangle, then side 3 would be the hypotenuse. It would be 11.3 '. If it was not a right angle triangle, the third side could be from .01 up to a hair under 16 feet. You could only determine a definite distance by stating the height of the triangle.

Hey there,
what type of triangle is it and can the 2 sides be any length? they can be 4ft and 4ft=8ft or 5ft and 3ft. if its a 90 degree triangle than....the sides would be 4ft and 4ft
to get the 3rd side the formula is a^2+b^2=c^2 (a and b being the two sides equalling to 8 and c is the 3rd side)
Assuming each side is 4 feet
a^2 + b^2 = c^2
4^2 + 4^2 = c^2
16+16 = c^2
32 = c^2
square root of 32 to get rid of the square on the other side.
c= 5.6568 ft = 5' - 8" give or take

We have an isosceles triangle because two sides are the same.
The length of the third side, which I will call x, is less than the sum of the other two sides and 0.
Final answer:
0 feet < x < 16 feet

If it is a right triangle with a right angle between the sides of length 8 cm, then the third side (hypotenuse) is (sqrt 128) feet.
If it is not right angled, let the third side be x.
By triangle inequalitites, we can confidently say that:
0 < x < 16

If its a right triangle use the pythagorean theorem
8^2+8^2=c^2
64+64=c^2
sqrt(128)=c
