My 11 1/2 month old son's eye is bloodshot?
His left eye looks like it has broken blood vessels, the right eye has some redness, but not as much as the left. I am taking him to the doctors tomorrow, but Im wondering if it occured from him rubbing his eye's too hard? He has had these symptoms for about 2 days.

Additional Details

I really dont think its pink eye. Ive seen pink eye before and his eyes dont look like they are infected with pink eye at all. His eyes have little red veins all over, especially in his left eye...like when your eyes are tired and they become blood shot

Pink eye doesn't always look the same, it might be what he has. When he wakes up are his eyes crusty or slimy?

If it's been persistant for 2 days it's safe to say it's an infection, pink eye being the most common one I would assume thats what he has, but it may be something else, doctor should know.

Anyway, good luck, poor baby :(

Are you sure it's ear mites, all the symptoms your dog has also indicate an ear infection, the only way to know is to see the vet. Pet store medication is virtually useless, l've found that only medication from the vet treats the problem effectively. My Lab suffers from ear infections due to allergies, and she will shake, scratch and rub her head on the floor. Her ears get red and hot. Medication for ear problems from the vet isn't that expensive, and at least it works, but mostly you need to find out what exactly the problem is. You can cause serious damage to a dogs hearing if you treat it without knowing what the problem is. Dogs can pick up ear mites from coming into contact with other dogs that have them, it doesn't mean that you have dirty dogs, ear infections are something else that you can't real prevent, plus some dogs are prone to them.

If you're sure it's not pink-eye - not matted when he wakes up, then it's probably some sort of allergy. I don't think he can cause it by rubbing his eyes. All kids rub their eyes and they don't end up bloodshot. I'm glad you're seeing the doctor tomorrow.
