Most times close to 4.0 are untrustworthy because of the use of hand timing. Hand timing tends to give much faster but inaccurate times. Ever since the NFL started using electronic timing (which is much, much more accurate) at the Combine in 1990, the fastest time has been 4.25s by cornerback Fabian Washington in 2005. It is probably unlikely that your dad ran a real 4.01 and just as unlikely for you to run a 4.1.

nobody has ever run a 4.01 40. But if you are serious about knowing, yes you could get faster w/ the proper training. If you are naturally that fast, focus on starts and form. we are probably only talking about a chance of hundedths maybe tenths of seconds improvement. On a side note, you will never need to be any faster than you are now, when you are talking about football its all technique and routes, a 4.5 guy will stay w/ a a 4.3 guy through good technique. and a 4.5 guy could beat a 4.3 guy w/ bad technique.

You are full of it kid. No way you ran a 4.32 as a 8th grader and no way your dad ran a 4.01 either. Quit the BS and try again.

looks like your full of crap. 4.01, yea right. and 4.32, bs. I think you messed up when timing. 40 yards isnt 40 feet, its 120 so you probably ran a 12 second 40.
