You can ask them nice first not to mess with the lines. If they are doing it maliciously, take them to court for the costs involved. Then get a fence built the entire length of the property.

Do not listen to Lis. I bought a house on the river here from a sheriff seizure. The guy who lives around the corner yanked the stakes while we were kicking the price around with the Realtor's, (Oh yeah, those of you who thought that this stuff was auctioned off fairly, SORRY!!!!). The lady who bought the property from me caught a surveyor in the area and he pointed the lines out to her, no charge!!! Now this is not an everyday occurence it usually costs in upwards of $750 but she knew this man. The guy who tried to buy it before her tried to con me into paying for this this even though he lost a part of the deed (There the difference between 200 & the 850 it cost me), but I INFORMED HIM THAT i DIDN'T KNOW where the lines were.

Call the police. They committed a crime. It is illegal to move property line stakes. And yes, sue them for the costs.
You better start building a fence because these neighbors most likely won't be very friendly with you after all this.
BTW, Don't listen to pappy. He knows nothing except one rare WRONG incident. I have real estate law experience and have had issues with this situation many times on country lots.

That would be up to a local lawyer to decide, but, if they are indeed moving your stakes, that amounts to trespassing on your property to do so. Call the city attorney. That's his/her job.

Consult with an attorney. Consultation is free with some law firms.
