I checked my gift horse to make sure it hadn't swallowed a Trojan. You can never have enough protection. My friends ribbed me for doing this. I had to lubricate its throat to get it too open wide. Why anyone would let a gift horse in the house is Greek to me. I was happy to get the animal. Wooden a horse be great to have? I was going to check the other end of the horse until someone told me that it was fast enough to pass the wind.

It did and it bit me. Which is how I learned that you should never look a gift horse in the mouth.

I've never gotten a horse as a gift, even when I really wanted one as a kid. But hopefully it would have all its teeth.
