Dropping a felony to a lesser charge ?

Is plea bargaining the only way a felony (or misdemeanor) can be dropped to a lesser charge? If not, what are some other ways a charge can be dropped to a lesser one?

Reducing charges can only be done by the DA's office. You can ask them to consider it due to your good record prior to the arrest. They will consider whether or not they think a conviction of the more serious charge is a) possible and b) warranted.
