It's something that comes from Asia. You have to remember they're not here just to entertain us, they're global entertainers when they hit it big, and their looks are more popular abroad.
The Asian standard of beauty I think comes from India, and you'll see if you watch any Jpop videos that lots of men look feminine in a way.
It's known as bishonen, the term means "beautiful youth". It's basically a beautiful man who's beauty isn't bound by his gender, he transcends boundaries.
It's neat really, we have some similar stuff in North America, but not quite.
